They soon come upon mansion of crime lord Fadhil and order in an air strike. Only afterwards do they learn that there are children in the house. Unable to stop the air strike, the team rushes in for a daring rescue. With the children safe and the bad guys dead, the team loads the kids onto a helicopter. Within seconds of takeoff, the team sees a missile destroy the helicopter and they realize that bad guy Max (Jason Patric) wants them dead.
With no support from the USA, the team is trapped in Bolivia until the mysterious Aisha (Zoe Saldana) offers to take them home in exchange for killing Max. After a couple of explosion, countless gunshots, lame jokes, an infinite amount of sexual references and a betrayal the movie ends with the good guys safe and the possibility of a sequel.
This trend of comic book adaptation is quickly becoming trite. Yes, the latest Batman with Heath Ledger was amazing and profitable, but The Losers was down-right horrible. Unsurprisingly, there was no character growth, the plot development was shaky, and in a weird twist, Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" was played every throughout the entire movie, as if that song could make any occasion better. If this was true, my high school prom would not have ended with me driving home alone. The only redeeming factor this movie has is Evan's absurd lines that got a chuckle or two at best. My recommendation is to save your money and wait for this to be released on TV. That or convince a friend to buy your ticket.
The Losers receives 2 stars out of 5.
