Congratulations Class of 2010

Congratulations to the members of the Class of 2010! Your hard work and perseverance have paid off. As you prepare to pursue your career goals or continue your studies, the knowledge and experiences you gained while at Mount Wachusett Community College have prepared you for an exciting future.
Along the way, in between studying mathematics, science, literature, humanities and the courses required for your majors, many of you have spent countless hours on service learning projects and as volunteers for various programs, events and initiatives here on the campus and in the greater community. I am always impressed with the final tally of hours and projects at the end of the academic year, because it represents the many ways you have made a significant difference in the lives of others.
Because of your efforts, this year Mount Wachusett Community College was once again named to the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service learning, and civic engagement.
Whether you helped raise money to aid the people of Haiti whose lives were so devastated by the earthquake in January, educated local teenagers about a variety of health issues, collected food for those in need in our communities or performed other acts of service, your efforts helped strengthen the local cities and towns in our region. As you prepare to move on to the next chapter in your life, I encourage you to remain active and engaged citizens.
The late Senator Edward M. Kennedy once said, "Students who participate in service learning are likely to continue to work all their lives in many different ways to improve the world around them, with lasting benefits for our country and our planet."
All of us at Mount Wachusett Community College wish you continued success in your future endeavors.
