Wetmore, a Business Administration major, praises the 3+1 program as an affordable alternative to a four year school. He said, "The Mount gives a quality education equal to that of a four year college, and now that they offer the opportunity to work towards a bachelor's at a more reasonable price, how could I go anywhere else?"
The 3+1 program with Nichols College allows students to take the first 90 credits, or 3 years of study, at MWCC before moving on to Nichols to finish their final year and earn their Bachelor's degree. Students enrolled in this program must maintain a 2.0 GPA.
Dane wasn't the first Wetmore to venture the halls of MWCC; you may recognize the name from the new Robert D. Wetmore Technology Center. Senator Robert Wetmore, Dane's grandfather, amended the Environmental Bill of Rights in Massachusetts state law.
Senator Wetmore promoted state and local planning as founder of the Growth Policy Commission. "We are very grateful to Senator Wetmore, not only for his years of public service, but for his continuing relationship with Mount Wachusett Community College," said President Asquino. "We are very fortunate to have him as a friend and proud to be building a center in his name." The Wetmore Center was added to meet the demand in Central Mass for a local Applied Technology education center. The Wetmore Center is located past the Lion's Den where Dane is a regular ping pong competitor.
Dane Wetmore plans to use his bachelor's degree to pursue a career in the greenhouse business, growing and selling organic produce as well as renting out space to community members.
