According to Foley, the Vision's program exists for a variety of reasons, like providing students with the opportunity to earn scholarships and grants and giving advice about educational direction and college processes. The program helps students from low income families or students who are the first to attend college in their family. Foley can relate to this because neither of her parents went to college. According to Foley, not just anyone can come to her for tutoring. The student must be a part of the Vision's program.
Foley said she graduated from St. Michael's College in Vermont with her Bachelor's Degree in English/Literature while also acquiring her degree in religious studies. At St. Michael's Foley learned about all types of world religions with Hinduism being her favorite. "St. Michael's is a Catholic school so courses in religion were a requirement," Foley said.
She said the favorite part of her job is "getting to know the students and brainstorming with them when they have hit a wall." Foley really enjoys working at the Mount and "actually using her degree." According to Foley, she would like to teach at some point in her career. She would like to teach kindergarten, high school religion, and English at the college level.
Ten years from now Foley would actually like to be working in a Library after achieving her goal of obtaining her master's degree in Library Science. According to Foley, she has experience working as the head of the teen program in the Oxford Free Public Library where she at times "got paid to play rock band for three hours."
Foley currently resides in Worcester, where she was born. She spends her weekends at her boyfriend's place in Rhode Island where she also works part time at a Barnes & Nobles.
