Christopher Kyprianos is a business/communications major and is in his first semester at MWCC. Kyprianos has always been self-employed and done anything from selling cars, to having a tattoo/piercing shop, and has even been a land lord for over 25 years. After closing down one of his businesses he traveled for a year. Kyprianos is 52, so when he got back from traveling he figured it was time he went back to school and found his final career so he enrolled at the Mount.
Kyprianos joined the International Club to make friends, and network for his future goal of being a photojournalist. Kyprianos said, "The International Club is more diverse than other clubs," which is another reason why he wanted to be a member. He had heard about the club during the first week of school, and saw it posted outside the Cafeteria.
Kyprianos has contributed to a few of the club's activities such as the bake sale, and the wreaths for the Winter Fest, which the club does every year. "I haven't got the chance to interact as much as I would have liked," said Kyprianos. He is also a member of the Visions program, and the Green Society, and a full time student so his time is limited.
Membership in the club is diverse, and it gives you the opportunity to learn about different cultures and food, Kyprianos said when asked why someone should join the club. "In their differences there's a common bond".
Kyprianos plans to be more involved with the club next semester. "The people, and the activities are interesting and I'd like to participate more," said Kyprianos.

What is diversity anyway? Christopher says we should look at the common connection, not the differences. That's the idea, I think. Nice story about a non-traditional student. (Continued…)
